The Installation Process

The process in which you choose to install your security cameras is crucial to the success and lifespan of your cameras. As a buyer you have many decisions to make which brings us to Step 1:

Step 1: Assess Needs

Video Quality?
The highest available definition, 4k, or something a little less, glamorous like 2k, 1080p, 720p? There are so many options available today for video quality but don't be fooled, better quality isn't always necessary, it is always important to assess the needs, for most applications a 1080p High Definition Camera will be perfectly sufficient. However there are other applications, such as out doors, where it may be beneficial to have a larger field of vision, enabling you to zoom in on small details such as license plates.

Fixed, Wide-Lense, 360, or Other?
For most applications, a fixed camera will be perfectly sufficient for your needs however there are applications in which it may be more beneficial to consider a 360 (Sometimes called fish eye) or a Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera may be more your speed. What is the difference you ask? Well at most simple, a fixed camera is your most basic, aim it, wire it up, and after all the conections are made, the job is complete. For some other applications, a PTZ Camera is best utilized for live monitoring, such as for retail applications in which someone, such as a Loss Prevention Agent is actively trying to identify theft in a location. PTZ cameras can be controlled, moved (panning) 360 degrees around the base and zoomed into a target. These cameras have the capability of reading a text message from the average ceiling.

Next you have your 360, often called your fish eye camera, this is best described as having a PTZ on everything, all the time, this type of camera creates a circular image allowing it's user in hindsight to review 360 degrees around the camera and see everything. This is best used for large areas the may have many ins and outs. A well placed fish eye camera can eliminate the need for multiple, targeted shots a and add simplicity to video review, though some do say that utilizing the video on these cameras does take some getting used to.

Sometimes you may have an application that will require a covert, or hidden camera. Pinhole cameras are in this writer's opinion the creme de la creme for these applications as they can be placed into a variety of applications, such as a pinhold in a ceiling tile, a clock, even behind a monitor or within the casing for a computer. When it comes to covert cameras placement is everything as such it is important to consider this before even thinking about installing covert cameras.
Research as well as speaking with a professional is crucial in this area, however the best possible advice you can get is to speak to a security or loss prevention professional who has utilized these tools for the same purposes that you want them. JEM Security Solutions features on site Security and Loss Prevention professionals who have used all the tools that we want to show you to protect people, property, and assets and we will be able to answer all your questions in regards to what you need for your unique application.

Aestetics:
Domes, Bullets, "Vandal-Proof" and bricks, Oh My!
How much do you want the camera to "stick out?" your cameras to catch the eye, or would you prefer that they blend in with the envirtoment. With every installation we help you figure out which options are bet suited for your needs so that at the end of the day, you are completely satisfied with the installation.
Analog or IP?
In our opinion, the best way that we can describe the difference between IP and Analog is that Analog is a direct connection (digitally and physically) from the camera to the DVR. Ultimately the decision on whether or Analog or IP is sufficient is contingent on the application for which it is applied. When considering a camera system it is the job of the JEM Security Solutions Sales Team to match you with a system that will suit your needs and give you one less thing to worry about.

2. Estimating the Costs of Materials and Labors

Only those who have undergone our JEM Value Training are authorized to give you an estimated cost.
Figuring out the cost of an installation may vary from site to site, things from materials needed, to the labor it involves, it is our goal to give you the best bang for your buck, because ultimately we want you to value our products and our work as much as we do.

3a. Provide Written Estimate

Next on our docket is to make sure that we have all the necessary materials to get your project completed as quickly as possible. It is with this in mind that we do what we can to limit any excess trips that will make the project take longer than it was originally slated for.

6. Schedule Appointment
Once we have all the materials, we will schedule the appointment with you to begin the project, choosing a date and time that best fits in with your life, schedule, and business needs.

7. Run Lines
Generally the first thing that we do when we arrive on site is begin running the camera lines. This is easily the most labor intensive part of the job. We believe that security and discretion often go hand and hand, and it is because of that that it is always our goal to make sure that our lines are hidden from plain sight.

8. Splice / Terminate Cables
We don't use cheap "Plug and Play" Cable. We make our own connections to bring you the best possible product at the best possible price. By utilizing the proper cable, we are able to increase the life span of the labor that we are doing for years to come. After running the lines we pull the data from them utilizing the proper connector. This is a process that is often called "cable making" in lay-man's terms.

9. Install Cameras
We make sure that cameras are mounted and placed correctly, as well as in the safest possible way. Being that cameras are often in high places, a falling camera can cause a potential liability to our clients. Because of this we are always vigiliant and thorough in our installation process and fully guarantee that our cameras will never fall on their own.

10. Make all Connections
All connections between the wires that we run our made, the DVR or NVR is then wired up and turned on as well the CCTV Power Supply (if applicable) and we turn the system on.

11. DVR Setup to Specifications.
The final step, configuration is key. We will set up the DVR to the necessary specifications to get you exactly the kind of video that you are looking for and in order to give you the longest possible video retention based on the size of the hard drive that you have chose. During this phase we also will connect the DVR to your Smart Device so that you can access your camera system remotely.

After all this is complete we thank you for your business and if you don't have any further questions, we are on our way!
The installation process is a long one, but it is the foundation of our business, and nothing gives us greater joy than providing a solution for a customer who requests it.
